Govt Blocks 2,070 Harmful Websites in 2024

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked more than 2,070 harmful websites and apps in 2024, protecting users from cyber threats and leaked credentials.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released its 2024 cyber security report through the National Telecom Security Operations Center (NTSOC). The report highlights the successful takedown of 2,070 phishing websites and malicious mobile apps aimed at Pakistani users.

In addition to these actions, over 550 cases of leaked user credentials were identified through dark web surveillance. NTSOC also managed more than 3,200 Indicators of Attack (IoAs) and issued 3,946 Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) to improve cyber threat response.

The agency conducted over 200 operational security actions, including public alerts via CERT and direct advisories to private sector entities. These activities helped minimize threats in real-time with support from ISPs.

A two-way information-sharing network now connects public and private sectors, ensuring rapid communication and threat mitigation.
