In an alarming escalation of regional hostilities, India launched missile attacks targeting key locations within Pakistan, including Kotli, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffarabad. According to Pakistan’s military, the strikes originated from within Indian airspace and did not involve a territorial breach.

The attack caused significant disruption, with explosions reported near Subhanullah Mosque in Bahawalpur’s Ahmed East area, and city-wide blackouts in Muzaffarabad. The ISPR confirmed that damage assessments are underway and that details on casualties will follow.

Pakistan Condemns Attack, Prepares for Retaliation

Director General ISPR, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, called the strikes “cowardly” and warned that the provocation will receive a “timely and forceful response.” Defence Minister Khawaja Asif added that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully equipped to counter any form of aggression—whether by land, air, or sea.

“This act of war will not go unanswered. India’s temporary triumph will turn into lasting regret,” said DG ISPR.

Background: Tensions After Pahalgam Incident

The development follows the April 22 militant attack in Pahalgam, Indian-occupied Kashmir, which left 26 people dead. India blamed Pakistan without presenting evidence, a claim Pakistan rejected and demanded an international probe for.

Since then, both nations have increased military readiness along the Line of Control, fueling fears of direct confrontation.
