Punjab Farmers to Get Rs. 5,000 Wheat Subsidy

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a Rs. 5,000 per acre subsidy for 600,000 wheat farmers, with or without Kissan Cards.

In a high-level meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz announced a Rs. 5,000 wheat subsidy per acre under the Kissan Card scheme. She confirmed that non-cardholders would also be eligible, ensuring broader access.

Officials reported that farmers have utilized Rs. 36 billion so far, with 60% of loans disbursed and Rs. 22 billion already repaid. The second installment for the next wheat crop has also been released.

Nearly 50% of applications for the wheat subsidy have been verified. The CM also reviewed a proposal to solarise agricultural tubewells and discussed including contractors in the subsidy plan.
